雙向流線在大多數加工廠中并不常見，但如果需要，它們總是給工藝和儀表設計者帶來困難。對于雙向流動，根據工藝條件和目標，管道系統使用相同的管線來完成反向流動(順流或逆流)的輸送和/或控制功能。

單向流率的測量是眾所周知的，并且在所有類型的流動技術中都是可能的。然而，大多數流量技術無法精確測量雙向流量。這可能導致過程中斷和/或測量不準確，從而嚴重影響工廠的生產和利潤。為此，Intek設計了Rheotherm 213型雙向液體和氣體流量計。
